WHAT WE DO
We raise awareness. We educate. We control the spread of malaria. We do this through urban and rural community education, advocacy and coordinated mosquito control efforts in malaria hotspots.
OUR APPROACH
• Malaria is complicated. There are many different methods to tackling the disease and one of the approaches we have taken is at the frontline of this fight, malaria control.
• Our phase one projects offer malaria education, community net distribution programs and tackle swamps and stagnant waters (mostly brought on by the rainy season) which leave ponds of water that become breeding grounds for mosquito vectors and other waterborne pathogens.
OUR RESPONSE VECTOR CONTROL
At Ethan's Voice Foundation (EVF) we work closely with Local Community Ambassadors (LCA’s), urban and rural community leaders (chiefs and block leaders) to identify problematic areas and zones. We engage public health authorities along with our fumigation and waste management partners in our phase one community projects.
PROJECTS PHASE ONE
Malaria education, advocacy and community feedback sessions.
Draining and purification of small scale stagnant waters in urban-rural areas (targeting low to meagre-resourced communities).
Indoor residual spraying, IRS (residual insecticides to internal walls and ceilings).*
Distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs) or Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs).
*Only Ministry of Health (MoH) and Centre for Disease Control (CDC) recommended insecticides for indoor and outdoor residual spraying are used in our operations.
